Maths and science tuition that makes the method stick.

One-to-one Maths, Physics and Chemistry lessons, in person in Chelmsford and the surrounding area, or online. Between lessons, students practise past-paper methods on their own flashcards, and I can see how they're getting on.

How it works

From first lesson to exam day

Free trial lesson

We meet in person or online. I find out where your child is and what they find hard, and you decide whether it's a good fit. There's no charge.

Weekly lessons

Lessons follow what's coming up at school and in the exam, with worked examples and past-paper questions.

Practice in between

A few minutes a day on flashcards built from the methods we've covered, so they're still there when the exam comes.

Practice between lessons

Learning doesn't stop when the lesson ends

Every student gets their own flashcards, made from real exam questions and mark schemes. The app brings each card back just before it would be forgotten, using the same spaced-repetition idea as Anki.

I can see what each student has practised and which questions they find hardest, so the next lesson starts in the right place.

  • Built from past-paper questions and their mark schemes
  • Multiple-choice and written answers
  • Works in the browser on any phone, tablet or computer
  • Included for every student

Why does methane have a low boiling point?
Small molecules, so the intermolecular forces are weak and little energy is needed to overcome them.

About me

Hi, I'm Harrison

Mechanical Engineering graduateLoughborough UniversityDBS checked

Throughout my degree I used Maths and Physics every day to solve real engineering problems, and I want my students to develop that same confidence with difficult questions. I believe anyone can improve in these subjects with the right guidance, plenty of practice, and the confidence to make mistakes along the way.

My teaching focuses on understanding rather than memorisation. I ask students to explain their thinking, so we can see exactly where they're getting stuck and work through it together. Lessons should be a place where they feel comfortable asking questions and gradually build the confidence to tackle problems on their own.

As a recent graduate, I know the pressure of exams and how much it helps to have someone patient, approachable and invested in your progress. My aim is to improve grades, and to help students enjoy learning and realise they're capable of much more than they think.

Outside tutoring I enjoy working out, running and watching TV. Tell me what you're watching!

Questions

Common questions

What happens in the free trial lesson?

It's a normal lesson on a topic your child is working on. It lets me see where they are, and lets you both see how I teach before committing to anything.

Which exam boards do you cover?

All of them, including AQA, Edexcel, OCR and international GCSEs. Lessons and practice questions follow your child's own specification and past papers.

How much are lessons?

It depends on the level and whether lessons are in person or online. Mention it in your enquiry and I'll let you know.

Do we need to install anything for the flashcards?

No. They open in the web browser on any phone, tablet or computer, and each student signs in with their own name and PIN.

Can you help with exam preparation?

Yes. As exams get closer, lessons focus more on past papers and exam technique, and the flashcards keep earlier topics fresh.
